Uses

The Aquaseal Liquid Roof by Everbuild is the ultimate, ready-to-use and easy-to-apply liquid roof system. It can be applied individually or in conjunction with a reinforcing sheet, increasing the performance higher than it already is without. Suitable for adhering to porous and non-porous surfaces, it can easily repair small leaky roofs with a unique ability to cure even if rain is ponding on top. Application this product is typically applied in include;

  • Waterproofing pitched and flat roof structures
  • Treatment of new construction and rejuvenating of existing structures
  • Waterproofing underneath tiles bonded with adhesive on terraces and balconies
  • Ideal application substrates when using reinforcing fleeces include mortar, brick, stone, roof tiles, fibre cement, metals, wood and tiles, roofing felt, asphalt, and bituminous coatings.

Preparation

Prepare the surface by ensuring it's stable, sound, and in good condition. If cracks, splits, or other minor damage, they must be checked to ensure they're suitable for remedial work using the Aquaseal Liquid Roof. Any contaminants on the surface that can interfere with the Aquaseal must be removed, including dirt, oil, dust, grease, loose debris, etc.

Application

  1. Open the tin and view the Aquaseal to ensure the product hasn't settled or separated; if it has, give it a little stir to get a uniform colour. You need to take care not to over-stir it as this can cause air entrapment.
  2. Using a soft bristle brush or a solvent-resistant roller, apply an even coat of about 1mm thick in depth.
  3. You should apply a second coat once the first has dried. Drying time can vary depending on the ambient temperature.

Limitations and Notes

  • This should not be applied to substrates with rising moisture.
  • Full reinforcement must be applied to the asphalt, roofing felt, and bituminous coatings, as these surfaces can soften after application.
  • This is not suitable for permanent water immersion or inverted roof structures.
  • It must not be raining during the application.
  • Do not apply this product if the temperature is below 5°C
  • You should test adhesion before completing the entire project. This is to check if a primer is required.
  • Vertical or steeply pitched surfaces may require an additional application to build adequate thickness.
  • On substrates likely to experience outgassing, ensure the substrate is thoroughly dry and apply during falling ambient and substrate temperatures. If this is applied during rising temperatures, 'pin holing' may occur due to the rising vapour. In rare cases, you can use a suitable concrete primer, but check with the manufacturer beforehand.
  • May exhibit slight chalking at the surface; do not use run of water in live fish tanks, etc.
  • Due to this product reacting with open air, sealing the tin after opening is not recommended.
  • This product is not acceptable for indoor applications.
  • This product is not unsuitable for application near air conditioning units.
  • Volatile bituminous materials may stain and or soften below the coating.
  • The low melting point of bituminous materials may need priming.
