The Trade Decorators Caulk by Soudal is crafted to equip the user with a product that has exceptional adhesion to various surfaces while retaining its integrity and colour. All of this is achieved through its unique composite, which includes an entirely waterproof sealant treated with colourfast to retain its quality. Alongside colourfast, it's entirely compatible with paints, allowing you to transform the sealant's visuals. This Decorator Caulk is perfect for application in areas which require a bond suitable for movement up to 10%. It typically is applied to window sills, plinths, walls and between masonry.

Preparation

It's vital to achieve optimal results to prepare the surface. Start by cleaning away any contaminants that can interfere with the bonding, including dirt, dust, grease, oil, organic growth, loose debris, flaking paint, etc. After cleaning the surface and removing impurities, dry the surface thoroughly. If the surface is highly porous, you can dilute the material inside the cartridge with 2 parts water and apply the solution to the surface, enhancing the adhesion.

Application

  1. Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
  2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be filled
  3. Place the cartridge into a suitable applicator tool and point the nozzle to the gap
  4. Starting from one end of the gap, apply the material in a continuous, long bead as you go across to the other end
  5. After applying the material, you can smooth it down to a visually pleasing finish using a spatula or putty knife

Limitations and Notes

  • You should not apply this product if frost or rain is imminent
  • Protect the product against frost
  • Do not apply it in areas which are subject to continuous water immersion
  • Paintable with most paints, but a preliminary test is always recommended to check compatibility
  • Any paints applied must be sufficiently elastic to accommodate any movement in the joint
