Preparation

Ensuring all the surfaces are prepared to achieve optimal performance is vital. Start by cleaning and removing any contaminants that can hinder the adhesion, including dirt, dust, grease, oil, organic growth, etc. Any loose or flaking material should be removed as well. If the surface is glass, aluminium or metal, a proprietary solvent cleaner should be applied to prime the surface for optimal adhesion.

Application

  1. Cut the tip of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
  2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap and screw it onto the cartridge.
  3. Place the cartridge into a suitable sealant applicator tool.
  4. Point the tip of the cartridge to the gap you intend to fill and apply a bead along the gap.
  5. Smooth down the sealant within 30 minutes of application to ensure a smooth, optimal bond - Use an applicator tool, spatula or piece of wood wetted in a soapy solution.
