Leadax

Leadax is the main lead substitute in the world that wears like lead and is malleable and pliable as lead. Leadax is equivalent to Code 5 lead flashing.

Why Leadax?

Leadax Original is the first lead alternative in the world with the corresponding properties as traditional lead. Leadax is not harmful to health or the environment, making it a better solution for those that are looking to work on environment-friendly projects. From cavity walls to chimneys, Leadax is utilised and processed in the same way as to lead without compromise!

Benefits of Leadax

Leadax Original is a completely circular product constructed from recycled polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Leadax has won several awards for its innovative lead replacement. Unlike traditional water-resistant materials, Leadax’ products do not contain any heavy metals. In addition, Leadax is available in longer strips. So you can seal larger areas with less overlap, saving you materials and time.

What is PVB?

Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is the plastic foil in safety glass that could not be reused until now. There is an abundance of PVB available worldwide. In Europe alone, this waste pile weighs in at more than 1.5 billion kilograms (each year!). For comparison: This is the weight of 150 Eiffel towers. Besides that, contemporary products for waterproofing buildings are not sustainable, have a large carbon footprint and are (often) toxic.

Using Leadax

Leadax can be used as a water barrier in (cavity) walls and under casings. At the intersection between chimney bases and roof tiles. At chimney fl ashings to provide a water barrier. Leadax can be applied to the base of dormers and skylights as a waterproofing layer and at the joint between dormer side walls and tiled roofs. As a watertight connection between an outside wall and an extension. Use Leadax masonry clips to attach Leadax to masonry joints. Leadax can be used as valley gutters and waterproofing on the ridges of (tiled) roofs.
