Uses
The Trade Sanitary Silicone by Soudal is forged to provide fantastic, high-quality seals across various surfaces and materials in a property. It's designed for use in various areas, including building and construction joints, glazing and joint works, connection joints and sealing in cold store rooms, container construction and air conditioning systems. Given the purpose of this product, its sanitary properties allow it to be cleaned without concerns about damaging the surfaces of the silicone.
Preparation
Before you commence the application process, completing the preparation section is vital to ensure optimal performance and results. Ensure that all surfaces involved in the application are free from contaminants, including dirt, dust, grease, oil, loose debris, flaking material and organic growth.
Application
- Cut the dome at the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be filled.
- Place the cartridge into a suitable applicator tool.
- Point the tip of the nozzle to one end of the gap and apply a long, singular bead across the whole gap.
- Tool down the sealant using an applicator tool or wooden spoon/spatula wetted with a soapy solution.
- When tooling, take care not to make contact with either surface, as the soapy solution can bleed under the sealant and cause poor adhesive performance.
