Uses
The Emergency Roof Seal by Thompson's is designed to repair damages to the roof where small cracks and leaks cause damp and water leaks, which can cause further structural damage. Thompson's formulated this product with a solvent-based acrylic resin with a high solid, high viscosity consistency, and it's supported with additional fibres that help bridge small gaps, sealing them securely. The types of surfaces that you can apply this product to include;
- Felt
- Asphalt
- Slate
- Tiles
Preparation
If it is raining: Brush away any ponded water from the area of repair
If it is dry: Remove any dust or dirt with a stiff brush and also carry out any structural repairs if required
Abutments, Flashing, Valleys and Upstands: Apply 30 cm scrim bandages to the areas of repair
Bituminous surfaces: Remove any loose chippings and dust with a brush or trowel
Slates and Tiles: Clean the area thoroughly, carry out any structural repairs if required, and ensure enough ventilation in the roof void.
Corrugated Metals: Remove any coating and rust with a wire brush, thoroughly clean the area, and apply a proprietary rust treatment.
Metal Back Flashing Strips: New metal-backed flashing strips may have residual surface deposits of silicone, so wash the surface thoroughly with white spirit and allow it to dry. Roughen the surface with abrasive paper before applying the Emergency Roof Seal.
Application

- Don't apply if the surface is below 0°C or if frost, ice or snow is present.
- Protect the area being treated from sharp objects.
