Uses
Bond It Bituminous paint is crafted to deliver waterproofing and overall weather protection for various surfaces, it provides an odourless and taint-free film which defends against corrosion and decay. Surfaces that are suitable for this product include;
- Steelwork
- Concrete
- Ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Felt
- Fibre cement
- Corrugated iron
- Asphalt
- Wood
Preparation
Surfaces must be prepared before you can start application, remove any contaminants that can interfere with the bituminous paint, such as oil, dust, grease or similar impurities. Any organic growth that is present should be removed MOULD STOP as it's effective and killing and prevents further growth for months. Rust must be removed with a wire brush and treated with rust inhibitor primer.
Once you've treated the surface and given the appropriate remedial work, ensure there is no water on the surface as it can interfere with the bituminous paint.
Application
This product is supplied ready to use and shouldn't require any thinning.
- Apply using a brush, roller or spray
- Apply at least two coats giving 6 hours between each coat.
Limitations
It is not suitable to use this product when;
- In areas where solvent contact is likely
- Use for potable drinking water tanks.
- Bitumen paint can bleed through any paint applied on top of it; it is suggested that you use a primer recommended by the paint manufacturer before applying any paint on top.
