Uses
The Aluminum Paint by Cromar is an exceptional, high-performance roof coating that defends against the harmful effects caused by sunlight, reflecting UV rays away from the substrate below and extending the roof's lifespan. Cromar's aluminium paint can be applied directly to bituminous roofs, which is perfect for protecting them, whether it's roofing felt or bitumen paint. Other application areas include exposed steel, corrugated iron, and other metallic surfaces; even mineral surfaces, including concrete, are suitable.
Preparation
Before commencing the application, preparing the area is vital to achieve optimal and professional results. Start by cleaning the surface, removing contaminants that can hinder the adhesion of the paint, including dirt, dust, grease, oil, loose debris and even organic growth. A stiff brush is the best tool to clear the surface of impurities, but a fungicide is recommended for organic growth as it will kill them and prevent them from returning. Roofing felt should receive a primer, and then they're ready for the aluminium paint.
Application
- Any fresh bitumen coating on the roof must have 3 - 5 days of curing before applying the aluminium paint.
- Stir it thoroughly before use.
- Using a brush or airless spray, apply the first coat to the surface and allow it to dry.
- Once it's dried, apply the second coat to the surface.
- Take care not to apply either coat too thick; otherwise, bronzing may occur. Bronzing can also happen if rain falls before it's cured.
