Uses
The Roofing Felt Adhesive by Cromar is an exceptional product with superior bonding strength compared to others on the market. On average, roofing felt roofs can last 15 - 20 years, which this product can easily achieve if applied correctly. Cromar's technical team forged this product using high-quality bituminous, enhancing the adhesion with the roofing felt, making it perfect for those who want to bond bituminous roofing felt to common roof substrates such as
- Metal
- Timber
- Concrete
- Asphalt
Preparation
It's vital to achieve optimal adhesive results that you prepare the surface correctly. Inspect the roof, checking it's stable, sound and free from contaminants that can hinder the roofing felt's adhesion. Any signs of organic growth must be eradicated using a fungicide and then removed. Cromar's Roofing Felt Adhesive can thicken when stored in cold temperatures, and if that's the case, then store it in a warm room the night before application. If your intended application substrate is concrete or porous, priming the surface and allowing it to dry is recommended.
Application
- Tools suitable for application include a brush, mop or squeegee.
- Apply the Roofing Felt Adhesive to the surface and allow it to set for 15 - 30 minutes to thicken.
- Either place or roll the roofing felt onto the adhesive and apply pressure on top of (15 - 25kg), ensuring maximum contact and no air trapped. It would be best if you used a long-pile roller to prevent you from trafficking on the felt.
- Any overlaps should be at least 150mm at the ends and 75mm on the sides; you can apply the adhesive to the underside of the laps and compact it, ensuring maximum bonding strength.
- If you're applying this product onto timber, you should nail the first layer of roofing felt, and subsequent layers can be applied without mechanical fixings, just Cromar's Roofing Felt Adhesive.
