Uses
The Black Jack 906 Roofing Emulsion by Everbuild is a unique water and bitumen-based emulsion that provides excellent waterproofing for roofs and provides outstanding protection against the corrosion of pipes and structural steelwork. Applications that this product is used in include general waterproofing of roofs, metal protection and insulation. The way this product aids in insulation is due to the 906's ability to provide a vapour barrier, perfect for cold storage rooms, mushroom houses and similar installations.
Preparation
It's essential to properly prepare the area before applying the 906. You should clean the surface, removing any contaminants that can hinder the adhesion; these include dirt, oil, dust, grease, etc. Any organic growth present needs to be removed correctly. The best way to achieve this is to use a dedicated mould killer, saturate the area, allow it to die and wipe the surface clean. Any porous surface will require a roofing primer applied to the surface and allowed to dry thoroughly before applying the 906 on top. It's crucial to complete any remedial work to the surface before applying; significant gaps, unsound structures or surface damage will hinder this product.
Application
- Open the tin and stir it thoroughly
- Apply using a brush working at a rate of ¾ of a litre per square metre.
- Apply the coats at right angles to each other and allow 24 hours between coats
- You should apply at least two coats to achieve optimal results
Optionally, you can extend the life of the 906; applying an overcoat such as solar reflective paint can achieve this.
Limitations
- Do not apply when rain is imminent.
- Protect from rain and frost until cured. To understand if it's cured, wet a finger and rub it over the surface, and if it doesn't produce a brown stain, it's cured.
- Do not use in areas where subsequent solvent contact is likely.
- This product may bleed through any paint applied over it. If you want to paint over it, you should contact the paint manufacturer that you want to overcoat to check compatibility.
