Uses
The Fire Mate by Everbuild is a four-rated, one-part emulsion acrylic-based instumenscent acoustic that is perfect for applications where fire prevention is required. Everbuild formulated this product for fire resistance, as well as delivering excellent acoustic properties with deafening sound by up to 24 dB. Alongside this, its fast curing with non-slump allows a quick, professional application, and unlike a lot of competitors on the market, this product is suitable for certain paints to be applied over. Application this product is typically applied in includes sealing joints, voids and irregular holes in firewalls, partitions and other structures. It's also used for maintaining the integrity of pipes and cables and, finally, internal perimeter pointing of fire-rated doors and window frames.
Preparation
Before commencing the application, it's essential to prepare the surface. To complete this, remove any contaminants on the surface, then wipe it clean and dry.
Application
- Cut the tip of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle and screw it onto the top of the cartridge
- Place the cartridge into a standard sealant applicator/gun
- Apply to the area, using a continuous bead from one end to the other
- Smooth down the sealant using a sealant tool or a soapy solution on a wooden spoon/spatula
Limitations
- This is not suitable for application on the surfaces that billed oils, plasticisers or solvents.
- Do not apply this product where constant water immersion will occur
- It's not suitable to apply this product as part of a structural glazing system
- This product does have compatibility issues with some CPVC piping
