Uses
The Everflex 145 Butyl Rubber Sealant by Everbuild is perfect for interior and exterior applications in challenging areas, requiring a durable, resilient and permanently elastic bond. The Everbuild team utilise a one-component formula based on polybutene, ensuring the ultimate strength with a movement accommodation of +/- 5%. It's perfect for single glazing of metal, concrete and wooden frames and sealing around metal roof panels. This product is ideal for roofers and construction tradespeople, with various suitable mineral and roofing substrates.
Preparation
Before applying, prepare the surface you intend to seal by removing all contaminants and ensuring the substrate is dry. If there's a significant gap where you intend to seal, use a backing rod or expanding foam to fill the gap and allow it to dry, then seal the gap.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle and screw it onto the cartridge.
- Place the cartridge into a suitable sealant applicator tool.
- Point the tip of the nozzle to the area to be filled and apply a long bead across it, keeping even pressure on the tool.
- Using either a sealant tool, spatula or wood wetted in a soapy solution, tool down the sealant to a smooth finish within 1 hour of applying.
Limitation and Notes
- This product should not be used in conjunction with asphalt or bitumen.
- Do not apply this product onto plastic, PVCu windows, Polycarbonate or acrylic sheeting.
- This product takes 24-48 hours to cure. Therefore, it should be quarantined from the elements to ensure an optimal bond.
- Do not apply in applications where movement is more than +/- 5%
- Complete preliminary tests before the whole application is unsure whether the performance is compatible with the area.
