The P16 PVC Pipe Cement offers the ultimate product for plumbers or D.I.Yers who are looking to seal various types of plumbing pipes. Everbuild technicians formulated this product to deliver unique features, including a long open time with a rapid rate of bond strength development. This feature allows you time to apply the product and set it up correctly, and once in place, it will rapidly start to cure.
Preparation
It's essential to cover your skin and clothing with appropriate protective clothing. You ventilate the room the application is in, preventing unwanted inhaling, and any possibility of ignition should be removed. All surfaces must be clean, sound and dry. Finally, cut pipes squarely, removing any swarf and chamfer the outside edge. Lightly abrading pipes with emery cloth and using a proprietary solvent and clean to prime the surface.
Application
- Apply a thin, even coat onto both surfaces using a brush.
- Slide the two surfaces together immediately, but do not twist them.
- Hold in place for 20-30 seconds, removing any excess adhesive with a cloth.
- You should allow at least 10 minutes of drying time before handing. If the pipe is non-pressure, install it back into service after 8 hours. If the pipe is pressurised, you must wait at least 24 hours.
- After completing the application, you should reseal the bottle straight away.
Limitations
- This is unsuitable for application with potable water.
- Always apply to both surfaces when applying.
- You should not dip the pipes into the adhesive, and don't contaminate the adhesive with other solutions.
- After finishing the application, you should seal the container straightaway.
- Do not apply this product below 5°C.
- Allow at least 10 minutes before handling and wait 8 hours for non-pressured and 24 hours for pressured pipes before putting them back into service.
