Uses
The Wet Rot Wood Hardener by Everbuild is the ultimate wet rot combating product, achieved through a unique selected resin composite which soaks deeply into the surface of the wood into the fibres, hardening it and providing a base for subsequent wood filling and restoration. Applications this product is typically applied in include;
- Strengthen and reinforce softwood and hardwood
- Repairing wood damaged by wet rot
Preparation
Before application, remove all decayed and crumbly wood until you're down to a solid base. Ensure that the wood is free from contaminants like dust and is reasonably dry, sound and clean.
Application
- Shake the product and decant solution into a suitable container
- Apply to the area by brush until it's completely saturated
- To achieve an enhanced effect, drill a hole into the wood and apply the wood hardener to it
- Allow drying and remove any excess hardener with a wire brush
- Once hard, you can fill it with a suitable wood filler and sand and then stain or paint the surface.
Limitations and Notes
- Avoid contact with metal, plastic, painted surfaces and glass
- Do not use this product as a surface treatment
- Any residual hardener on the surface must be removed before filling
