Uses
When applied to wood, the One Coat Wood Primer and Undercoat by Ronseal delivers excellent properties. Ronseals technicians crafted this product with a fantastic formula that allows you to seal over dark colours and marks, transforming a once-pink wooden chair into a bright, illuminating white one.
Preparation
Ensure the room is above 10°C and place dust sheets down to prevent unwanted spillages or mess. When prepping bare wood, wear a face mask and give it a quick sand to an even finish; this will help with the adhesion of the paint. After that, let the dust settle, wipe the wood with a cloth and white spirit, and vacuum any excess of mess.
If the wood has been previously painted and is still in good condition, you can lightly sand it to an even finish, which will help the following coat's adhesion. If you have flaking, cracked or peeling paint, you will have to sand it down to the bare wood. The easiest way to achieve this is using an electric sander, but ensure you wear a face mask due to the large amounts of dust that is caused.
Application
- Ensure you stir the paint correctly, mixing together all the pigments
- Apply the paint directly onto the wood, following the direction of the woodgrain
- After 2 hours, the paint will be dry and suitable for you to decorate on top of with paints.
Aftercare
This product is just a primer and should have further decoration applied over it once it's dried. If you need to clean any excess paint, use warm, soapy water. You may experience damage to the primer; if so sand down the affected area and recoat it.
