Uses
The MaxMix Waterproofer by Sika is the ultimate admixture to enhance workability and water resistance in screeds, pointing and rendering. Sika scientists brewed this product with added air-entraining composite, increasing workability and reducing shrinkage, cracks, crazing, and mild frost damage caused during the curing process. It achieves its water resistance through its pore-blocking additives, which reduce water absorption and the chance of efflorescence. Areas of applications this product has been used in include;
- Tank and pool linings
- External rendering
- External pointing
- Structures below ground level
- Areas likely to experience dampness
Application
- Shake the bottle thoroughly before use
- Push the lid downwards and twist it anti-clockwise to remove it
- Squeeze the sides to fill the measuring cup to the required dosage (20-40ml per 50kg of cement)
- Add the MaxMix directly to a 10-litre bucket of water and stir it well
- Dry mix your other ingredients and add the water/MaxMix solution until you achieve the desired consistency.
- Remember to put the cap on the bottle after use.
Limitations and Notes
- You should never mix this product directly with the dry mix; dilute it with water, then add it to the dry mixture.
- Do not exceed dosage recommendations, and take care not to over-mix the solution.
- Due to its air-entraining formulation, it's not suitable for structural concrete.
- Ensure you select the correct components for the dry mix, considering substrate, exposure levels, etc.
- Any external rendering should be completed per BS5262 1991" Code of Practice for External Rendering" and BS8000 Part 10 1995 "Code of Practice for Plastering and Rendering."
- When discarding this product, do it correctly; contact your local council if you need clarification. Do not allow this product to enter watercourses.
