Uses
The Butyrub by Soudal is the ultimate sealant, with its unique formation of an elastic, watertight skin along with a permanent plastic sealant. Its overall adhesion to various surfaces outmatches its competitors, with it connecting to most surfaces, including challenging porous substrates. Soudal engineered this product with fantastic resistance to multiple elements, including general weathering, water and chemicals.
Preparation
This product doesn't require priming to adhere to the surface, but cleaning the area is a good idea to ensure a strong and robust bond. Remove any dirt, dust, grease, oil, loose debris, and flaking materials to ensure the bond created is secure.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
- Cut the nozzle to an opening of the desired amount and screw it onto the cartridge
- Place the cartridge into a suitable sealant applicator tool and point the tip to the area of application
- Apply a long, continuous bead to secure a strong and durable seal from one end of the gap to the other.
- Tool down to a smooth, visually pleasing finish before the skin forms
Limitations and Notes
- This product is not suitable for application in areas subject to continuous water immersion
- Suitable for painting over, but take note that the paint must be sufficiently elastic
- Do not use this product when sealing insulation glass units or safety glass
- Do not apply this product to natural stone, marble, granite and similar substrates
