While it is common to sometimes mortar in the ends of the roof verge even in a structure that is otherwise dry fix, for roofers looking for a totally dry tiling arrangement the Easy Trim End Cap and Starter Unit are vital. These are both made of a polypropylene polymer that is highly resistant to heat, weather, and UV rays. In addition, both are totally watertight, protecting the vulnerable underbelly of the verge tiles from the weather and also any wayward wildlife.
Why should I use an End Cap and Starter Unit?
The End Cap and Starter Unit are important because they serve to seal off each end of a set of verge tiles without any need for mortaring. The less a roof relies on mortaring, the more resistant to the weather it is and the more it can flex to absorb damage.
The Starter Unit is mounted where the verge meets the eaves of the roof. The End Cap on the other hand is mounted where the verge meets the ridge at the top of the roof. Both are critical to implementing a full dry fix roof.
