The Build-Mate Building Mastic by Bond It delivers outstanding adhesion to all building surfaces, it can be painted over with most conventional oil-based paints. With its formula offering to weatherproof in most applications, you can apply this to seal and bed windows, door frames manufactured from metal or wood. You can use this to support the maintenance of low-rise building joints, seals, and flashing and for pointing around precast building materials.
Application
Prepare the surfaces before application; complete this by ensuring they are free from contaminants that can hinder the adhesion, this includes dust, oil, grease, debris and loose particles. Once you've removed the contaminants and are happy the surface is sound and dry, you may begin the application. Please note if you are filling joints with lots of movement, polythene tape or foam backing should be used to reduce the amount of sealant used.
- Apply using a standard sealant gun
- Cut the tip of the cartridge, being careful not to cut the threaded screw.
- Screw the nozzle onto the top of the cartridge.
- Cut a hole at a 45° angle, making the hole slightly larger than the area to fill.
- Ensure you fill the hole correctly, covering the gap and ensuring contact with both sides.
- Tool down with an applicator tool or a wetted spatula/spoon
