Preparation
Before application, ensure the surfaces are free from contaminants that can hinder the adhesion, including dust, oil, grease and other similar impurities. Ensure you remove any present silicone, DE-BOND is an excellent product for achieving this.
Application
- Apply using a standard sealant gun
- Cut the top of the cartridge without damaging the threaded screw
- Apply the nozzle onto the threaded screw
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, ensuring the gap is slightly larger than the area to be filled
- Tool down with a sealant tool within 5 minutes of application
For Bath Surrounds: Fill the bathtub to ½ amount; this will allow you to apply the sealant to the midpoint. If significant gaps are present, you can use polythene foam, rod or tape to support. This will minimise the wastage of the sealant.
For sealing pipes for sinks/baths: You should apply the sealant so that when you tighten and connect the pipes, it will compress the bond.
Limitations
The limitations of this paint are regarding its compatibility with various existing paint systems; you should conduct a compatibility test to ensure suitability. There is a danger of yellowing on contact with white alkyd resin paints. There is a risk of corrosion when used on bare iron or non-ferrous metals.
