Bond It SBR Admixture is crafted to improve the abrasion and chemical resistance of mortar, render or floor screeds. Its water resistance properties make it perfect for providing protection for both external and internal applications.Â
This product's alternative uses include applying this as a key coat to substrates with low porosity. You can even use it to repair the patching of concrete and cement screeds by improving the adhesion and flexibility of the screed.
Application
Before application, prepare all the surfaces from laitance, oil, grease and standing water. Any unsound surfaces should be scabbled down to a solid base material.
Key Coat:Â
- Mix the Bond It SBR and cement at the ratio of 1:2, and mix only enough for one hour of use
- Adjust the consistency of the mixture with water so that it becomes brushable.Â
- Brush thoroughly into a clean, dust-free substrate whilst still wet, and overcoat with the floor or render mix.
Damp-proofing:
- Mix the same formula as the Key Coat, which is 1 part Bond it SBR for every 2 part cement.
- Apply the first coat using a vigorous brush, with each stroke going in the same direction.
- Please wait for it to become touch dry, then apply a second coat, but this time brush each stroke at a 90° angle to the first coat,Â
- Wait 48 hours to dry and then apply the final and third coat, this time rotating your brush 90° again.
- Whilst the last coat is wet, apply the render.
Rendering/Mortars:Â
- Prepare the substrate with the key coat first to deliver the best results.Â
- Mix sand/cement mortar/render and add 5-7.5 Litres of Bond It SBR per 25Kgs cement, reducing the amount of gauging water accordingly,Â
- Apply at least 6mm thick coat.Â
- Two coats are recommended.
Granolithic Floorings:Â
- Prepare the substance with the key coat first for best results.Â
- Mix at the ratio of cement (1) - sand (1½)- 3mm granite flooring chips (1½)Â
- Use 5L Bond It SBR to each 25Kg of cement for floors up to 25mm thick. For floors greater than 25mm use 2.5 litres Bond It SBR and add water accordingly to produce a semi-dry mix.
Patching Concrete:Â
- Use the key coat and use a 3:1 render mix feathering lightly.
