The Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape – Grey delivers excellent adhesive properties to various roofing surfaces, designed to seal a roof's exterior, preventing rainwater from trickling down into your roof space. Its unique ability to create a water seal makes it perfect for replacing damaged lead flashing, sealing upstand and eve pieces, roof capping, repairing roofing felt or joints on flat roofs, and edge flashing on roofing felt.
Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential before applying this product; otherwise, optimal adhesion won't be achieved. Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface, removing any contaminants like dirt, grease, and dust. Fill any gaps, deep hollows, or depressions greater than 3mm with an appropriate filler to create a smooth base.
For porous surfaces, slightly dampen the area to improve adhesion. If the surface is non-porous, dampen it as well, but only lightly. Applying a primer beforehand is optional but recommended for tougher substrates, as it can enhance adhesion for better results.
Application
- When applying this product, you should cut the required length you need.
- Peel around 50mm of the backing tape and place it on the surface, lining it up.
- As you apply the tape to the surface, you should remove the backing tape, allowing a smooth, consistent application.
- After applying the tape, you should go over it gently using a hand, round piece of wood or seam roller to create a flush bond focusing on clearing any air gaps.
- If you want to place another flash band adjacent to the first one, you must ensure at least a 25mm overlap to ensure a secure, watertight seal.
