Uses

The Black Jack 903 Trowel Mastic by Everbuild is the ultimate, trowelable bituminous compound perfect for waterproofing, stopping, bedding, sealing and bonding applications. It's a high-performance composite that is compatible with adhering/filling holes in roofing felt, mastic asphalt, cast iron, corrugated iron, fibre cement, lead, slates, copper, concrete, zinc and timber. It is formulated to form a surface skin, but the mass belo retains a soft, flexible compound to accommodate moderate movement.

Preparation

Ensure that you prepare the surface to achieve optimal results. Start by checking the surface, ensuring it is sound and stable and then remove all contaminants that can interfere with the adhesion, then ensure it's completely dry. Metal must be wire brushed to remove the dust, and any rust must be treated with a rust-inhibitive product. Any loose or blistered paint should be removed and if the surface is newly galvanised, it needs to be roughened with a wire brush or treated with a proprietary etch primer.

Application

This product is ready to use and should not be thinned. Apply it by using a steel trowel or putty knife. You can use this product for filling cracks and holes or apply it to corrugated iron/fibre cement sheeting, tiles, lead and zinc, and felt. Please thoroughly read the technical data sheet to understand how to complete the application correctly.

Limitations and Notes

  • Do not use in areas subsequent to contact with solvents
  • Avoid inhaling the vapours of this product in confined areas
  • Allow sufficient drying times before overcoating
  • Only apply black bituminous products, and this is due to the mastic bleeding through other coatings.
