Uses
The 10-Year Woodstain by Ronseal provides fantastic wood protection that lasts up to 10 years! With a unique formula, Ronseal's technicians brewed this product to deliver a vibrant colour without any cracking or peeling, and it can protect the surface from various harsh weathering, giving you complete confidence. With an easy-to-apply process, simply using a brush, you can achieve optimal results with just three coats.
Preparation
Before commencing the application, it is best to apply this product in an environment above 10°. Alongside that, you should wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent any paint from spilling onto your clothes and skin, and a face mask is also recommended for the sanding process to prevent dust particles from entering your lungs.
If the wood has been previously stained or varnished, use a 12-grit paper and remove the old coat. It will remove the coat and provide an optimal wood stain surface. Afterwards, use a white spirit to remove any dust and clean the surface.
With new wood, the preparation requires light sanding on the surface, and you should even out any imperfection in the wood, preparing it for application. After you've sanded the surface, wipe it down with white spirit and let it dry.
Application
- Thoroughly mix the pigments in the paint by giving it a good stir.
- Using a brush, apply the wood stain in strokes following the grains.
- Give the first coat 4 hours to dry.
- After that, you can apply a second coat and give that another 4 hours to dry.
- After the second coat has dried, lightly sand the surface down and apply a 3rd and final coat; give that last coat 12 hours to dry.
Please note: The surface will be waterproof after the first coat.
Aftercare
After the surface has completely dried, you can start to clean and maintain the surface's quality, which is recommended to keep a higher-quality condition for longer. If you spilt the wood stain on yourself or the brush, use a warm, soapy solution to remove it.
