Uses

The Everflex Contract AC95 by Everbuild is an excellent sealant and adhesive perfect for application where fire resistance is required or the stopping sound from travelling. It's been brewed by the Everbuild scientists to achieve several compliances, including EN1366-4:2006, EN13141-1, EN13963 - Type 4a and with an acoustic rating of ISO 140-3. Application this product is typically used in include;

  • Forming acoustic and intumescent barriers by sealing gaps between plasterboard floors, ceilings, walls and dry-lining applications
  • As a general adhesive bonding plasterboard to plasterboard, plasterboard to wood, metal studding and direct to blockwork
  • Sealing and bonding most other kraft line insulation boards

Preparation

Achieving optimal results is only achieved by preparing the area correctly. Start by removing all contaminants on the surface, including dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. After clearing the contaminants, you should wipe the surface clean, ensuring it is dry. If you're bonding new plasterboard or high-porous surfaces, apply a primer of Everbuild PVA Bond diluted 1:4 with water. Surfaces can be slightly damp for the application, but they cannot be wet.

Application

  1. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening to the required amount.
  2. Use a long, pointed, sturdy object to pierce the top of the cartridge.
  3. Place the cartridge into a compatible sealant applicator tool/gun.
  4. Point the tip of the nozzle to the surface and apply a long bead on the surface.
  5. Any excess material can be removed with a damp cloth, and this should be done within 30 minutes before it starts to cure.

Limitations and Notes

  • Damp or humid conditions will significantly extend curing times.
  • Do not attempt to abrade when cured.
  • This product is suitable for paints to be applied to, but this should only be done when the product has cured; this can take as short as 24 hours or as long as 4 - 5 days, depending on the environment's temperatures and humidity.
  • If you're using this for overhead application, mechanical fixing must be used in conjunction.
