Uses

The Pyro Mate by Everbuild is the perfect choice of sealant when requiring a high-strength, high-performance product which provides excellent fire resistance and acoustic sound-deadening properties. Everbuild technicians crafted this product with a neutral cure and elastic silicone to resist fire while still being flexible. Application that this product is typically applied to include;

  • All building joints that require a fire-rating sealant
  • Sealing voids, joints and irregular holes in fire walls, partitions and other structures
  • Fire-rated expansion joints

Preparation

All surfaces must be cleaned and free from contaminants that can interfere with the adhesion, including dust, dirt, grease and oil. Any old sealant or mastic must be removed.

Application

  1. Cut the cartridge taking care not to damage the threaded screw
  2. Cut the nozzle to a 45° angle with an opening to the required amount and screw it onto the cartridge
  3. Place the cartridge into a standard sealant applicator gun
  4. Point the tip of the nozzle and apply firm pressure to maintain a consistent bead
  5. Tool down within 5 minutes of application before the skin starts to form on the surface

Limitations and Notes

  • This product is not suitable for surfaces that bleed oils or plasticisers or are in contact with asphalt or bitumen
  • Do not attempt to sand down; finish smooth by tooling down before the skin has formed
  • This product is not over-paintable
