Uses

The Griptite by Everbuild is a high-performance, ready-to-use gap filling and panel adhesive that's based on a high bond strength synthetic rubber/resin mix in a solvent carrier. With its unique composite, it enables this product to adhere to most common surfaces found inside and outside a home, including;

  • Wood
  • Plaster
  • Plasterboard
  • Carpet
  • Carpet Grippers
  • Metal
  • Glass
  • Ceramics
  • Brick
  • Concrete
  • Cork
  • uPVC
  • Some Plastic (Complete preliminary compatibility tests)
Applications that this product is typically used in include;
  • Bonding architraves, skirting and dado rails
  • Fixing parquets, cork flooring and wall cladding directly to internal wall surfaces or timber battens.
  • Fixing battens directly to walls without the need for fastening
  • Bonding carpet gripping systems to most floors, alongside bonding stair nosing to concrete or wooden stairs
  • Fixing polyester, PVCu, wood or metal thresholds
  • Securing aluminium or other skin panels to the framework of portable industrial buildings or cabins

Preparation

Surfaces to be bonded must be cleaned before application, or you risk not achieving an optimal bonding strength. Start by removing contaminants, including dirt, grease, oil, dust, etc. Any new concrete or plaster should allow sufficient time to dry and cure. If the surface is porous or driable, it should be primed first with a diluted contact adhesive and allowed to dry.

Application

  1. Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
  2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening to the required amount and screw it onto the cartridge.
  3. Place the cartridge into a suitable standard applicator sealant tool/gun.
  4. Point the tip of the nozzle to the surface and apply the material in a zig-zag motion or beads.
  5. Bring surfaces together, pressing firmly, and allow them to dry, which can take up to 1 hour - for trafficking areas such as bonding stair nosings, you should allow 24 hours for it to cure.

Limitations and Notes

  • This product should not be used on damp surfaces.
  • This product is not suitable as a mirror adhesive.
  • Do not apply this product to polystyrene, styrofoam or expanding polyurethane.
  • Heavy materials more significant than 8kg sq metre must be supported for at least 8 - 24 hours, depending on the item's weight.
  • Solvents inside the product's composite may attack sensitive plastics, so we recommend a preliminary test before completing the entire application.
