Uses
The Silicone Eater by Everbuild is an exceptionally powerful and handy product for removing old silicone-based sealants. This product is formulated using robust polymers that combat the silicone composite, deconstructing them and allowing easily water-based clean-up to remove them entirely. This product is suitable for various surfaces, with some proving more compatible than others, so a preliminary test is always recommended.
Preparation
Start by cleaning the surfaces, removing any impurities that can hinder this product's abilities, which include dust. After removing contaminants, strip and remove as much sealant as possible and then protect surrounding areas with impervious masking tape.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle and screw it onto the cartridge.
- Place the cartridge into a compatible sealant applicator tool.
- Extrude the material onto the sealant, allowing 2-4 hours for it to de-bond it.
- Four hours is the maximum it can sit on the sealant, so at the 4-hour mark, wipe it all away; if there is a left-over sealant, apply it again.
Limitation and Notes
- Complete a preliminary compatibility test before commencing the full application
- This product has a powerful composite, which can harm sensitive surfaces.
