The Damp Seal Aerosol by Ronseal is the go-to choice for Tradespeople or Novice D.I.Yers looking to complete remedial work around the home. With unsightly dampness coming in all shapes and sizes, this aerosol effectively covers it in 2-3 coats with 10 minutes of drying time. Despite this product's ability to seal the damp, it won't prevent any more from returning. To achieve that, you must stop the source of the damp, which can come from various parts of the house.
Preparation
If the dampness has caused damage to the paint on the surface, you should sand it down so the surface is smooth and prepared for paint. Any mould that may have occurred through the damp should be removed using a dedicated mould killer. Finally, you should lay down any dust sheets on surfaces and objects you don't want to spray paint onto accidentally.
Application
- Shake the can, paying close attention to the balls rattle, and once they rattle, continue for at least one minute
- Holding the can upright, hold it 20-30cm from the surface and spray from side to side for an even finish
- Wait 10 minutes for the first coat to dry
- Apply the second and third coats, giving 10 minutes of drying time in between
- After you've applied the three coats, you should allow 24 hours for the surface to completely dry.
Aftercare
This product is considered to be an undercoat and should have another type of paint or wallpaper applied on top of it. To clean the can after using it, hold it upside down and spray for a few seconds, then wipe the nozzle with a damp cloth.
