Preparation

When repairing rotten wood, you should remove any soft, rotting wood and treat it with a suitable wood hardener. Ronseal's Wood Hardener is ideal for this application, allowing the filler to adhere and offer a long-lasting repair.

Application

1. Mix a small, pea-sized amount of hardener with a golf ball-sized quantity of filler until it's formed into a solid, one colour.
2. Pack the filler directly into the hole, ensuring it fills the entire void and is raised slightly above the surface.
3. Before it fully cures, you should use a knife to smooth it out, which must be done within 20 minutes before it hardens.
4. After 30 minutes, the filler will fully cure and harden. You can then sand, plane, file, varnish, paint, and do whatever you like with it!

Aftercare

This product has excellent resistance to deteriorating over time, despite it being inside or out, so you can expect a long life out of it. Any tools that have excess residue on them can be cleaned using white spirit.
