Uses
Wet Rot Wood Hardener by Ronseal's is perfect for combating wet rot eating away at your wood. Suitable to be used inside and outside, Ronseal formulated this product to produce robust prevention of wet rot, leaving a rock hard finish that creates a perfect base for filling cracks and holes. Applied through a brush, it only takes one coat to achieve the full results.
Preparation
You should wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent wet rot hardeners from getting on your clothes or skin. If you are applying this product internally, open the doors and windows to increase the ventilation. Remove any loose or crumbling wood and ensure the application area is dry. To achieve optimal results, drill small holes into the wood; this allows the hardener to reach deeper into the wood.
Application
- Shake the tin thoroughly
- Pour a small amount into the plastic lid
- Apply the solution directly to the affected area using a paintbrush, ensuring it soaks deep into the rotten wood.
- Give it 2 hours to dry, then scrub with a wire brush to remove any excess hardener.
Aftercare
After you've completed the application, you can repair any cracks or holes in the wood using an appropriate wood filler. You can use white spirit to clean any tools you may have used.
