Uses

The One Coat Cupboard Paint by Ronseal is crafted with a unique formula, allowing it to deliver high-quality colour and benefits for your internal wood and furnishing. Available in various colours, this product achieves a vibrant and robust colour resistant to various knocks, scuffs and spills.

Preparation

Before starting the application, prepare the room by ensuring the temperature is above 10°C and use dust sheets to cover anything you don't want to spill paint onto accidentally. If you're painting cupboard doors and drawers, you should take them off the walls before painting them.

If the wood is in good condition, lightly sand it with 240-grit sandpaper to help with the paint adhesion. If your wood is cracked or flaking, you'll need to file it back to bare wood using 120-grit sandpaper brushing toward the woodgrain. You should wear a face mask when completing and sanding to prevent unwanted dust and particles from being inhaled.

Application

  1. Thoroughly stir the paint, ensuring that the pigments mix.
  2. Apply the paint in strokes with the wood grain using a synthetic brush or foam roller.
  3. After an hour, it will be touch dry, but with specific bold colours, you may need to apply another coat.
  4. If applying a second coat, wait 4 hours for the first one to dry, then lightly sand it with 240 grit sandpaper and a damp cloth. Once the surface is dry, apply the second coat.

Aftercare

Remove as much paint as possible from your tools, then wash them using warm, soapy water. Any leftover paint should not emptied into watercourses or drains. When cleaning the surface, you should avoid abrasive cleaners as they can damage the paint; instead, wash with warm, soapy water.
