Uses
The Quick Drying Woodstain by Ronseal is perfect for application on all external surfaces made from wood. It offers long-lasting protection, which commences just 30 minutes after application! We offer this product in 3 sizes, 250ml, 750ml and 2.5L, with a coverage of up to 20m² per litre. It allows you to effectively cover up to 5m² in just a 250ml tin, making this perfect for windows, doors, benches and small applications. However, if you're looking at completing those bigger jobs, such as fences, then a 2.5L tub can cover up to 50m²!
Preparation
It's best to apply this product above 10° with thoroughly dry wood, and it's also suggested to wear a mask when painting and sanding to prevent any inhaling of dust. If you are trying to paint previously stained or unvarnished wood, sand the wood down with 120-grit sandpaper and remove any present stain or varnish. Use white spirit to wipe down any excess dust and clean the surface. If you apply this product to new wood, lightly sand it, smoothing out any lumps and bumps afterwards, wipe the excess dust with white spirit and clean the surface.
Applications
- Thoroughly stir the tin, ensuring all the colour pigments mix.
- Use a paintbrush for application, applying and working in the direction of the grain.
- Once you've finished the first coat, wait 4 hours before applying the second; the surface will achieve it's waterproof property within 30 minutes.
- For the 3rd and final coat, lightly sand the wood to help the stain stick, and paint directly on top afterwards.
Aftercare
To maintain your wood, you should clean it regularly as dust and dirt slowly start attaching to it. If there are signs of damage after application, sand down the affected area and re-paint the section.
