Uses
The Frostproofer and Hardener by Sika is a practical, high-quality product that improves the curing times of concrete, mortar, renders or screed. It's formulated by the Sika technicians to enhance its defence against frost, increasing its resilience to withstand up to -8°C. This enables a sub-zero temperature setting, something many other manufacturers' products cannot achieve; if applied in normal ambient temperatures, the enhanced curing times aid in rapid repairs.
Preparation
All work completed should be carried out in accordance with British Standard 5625 Part 3 - This is the regulation for the Protection and use of mortars at a low temperature. Any tools used must be free from ice, and the temperature of the mix before cannot be below. 4°C
Application & Mixing
Mixing this product can be done either as a:
Accelerator;
Add gauging water at a rate of 2.5 - 5 litres to per 50kg of cement, depending on the degree of acceleration required
Frostproofer;
-4°C protection - Add to gauging water at a rate of 2.5 litres to per 50kg of cement.
-8°C protection - Add to gauging water at a rate of 5 litres to per 50kg of cement.
Reducing the required quantity of water accordingly
Plugging;
Mix neat with fresh cement and place into the area immediately.
Limitations and Notes
- Concrete must be covered after placing until the minimum strength is obtained or until the temperature rises above freezing.
- Do not use this product with high alumina cement.
- Do not overdose.
- Avoid weakening the mix during cold weather.
- Do not mix other additives in the same gauging water.
- Dispose of this product accordingly; if you need more clarification, contact your local council.
