Uses
The Patio Seal by Sika is a high-quality, excellent product that delivers a milk solution, drying into a hard-wearing, water-repellent film which offers a low-sheen slip-resistant finish. Due to this superb formula, it will reduce dirt pickup and facilitate easier cleaning through a simple detergent wash. Overall, it's a safer product to use for patio sealing, and this is all achieved through its solvent-free, water-based formula, which is non-flammable and will not harm plants and animals if used correctly.
Preparation
Surfaces should be prepared and free from dirt, oil, grease, dust and any other contaminants that can interfere with the Patio Seal. Any loose flaking debris must be brushed away using a stiff brush. If you have organic growth, you must remove it using a mould killer, killing the spores and ensuring they don't return under the sealer. If your surface is badly soiled, use Sika Brick Cleaner to help restore it. Any artificial stone, specifically cement-based and all block pavers, must be left for a three-month minimum after placing before coating with the Patio Seal, and this is to prevent any unsightly white patches from appearing.
Application
Stir well before use. Surfaces may be damp but cannot be wet.
- Apply to the surface using a long pile roller and tray or alternatively using a low-pressure spray.
- Ensure an even and thorough coverage, and take care of textured surfaces to prevent ponding.
- Apply a second coat no more than 2 hours after the first coat. You may apply a third coat if you want to achieve a semi-gloss finish.
- Drying times of the last coat will take 4 hours from the previous coat at 20°C, but this can be extended at lower temperatures.
