Uses
The SikaFlex EBT+ by Everbuild is one of the sought-after products on that market; available in various colours and suitable for multiple applications, it offers unrivalled results. Ideal for use as a sealant, adhesive and even gap filler in certain applications, the versatility of this product is unmatched. To start, it offers an unbelievable initial grab, which, with its super-fast curing speed, cures into an extremely high bond that's resistant to water and general weathering.
Preparation
Substrates that you intend to apply the EBT+ to require preparation to ensure optimal results. To prepare it correctly, you must remove contaminants on the surface, such as dirt, dust, oil, grease, debris, etc. Certain surfaces, such as metals, need to be cleaned with a fine abrase pad and a cleaner; this is to provide a key. Building surfaces such as concrete, rendars, etc, need a primer applied to ensure adhesion is achieved correctly.
Applications
- Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw.
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, with an opening to the respective size required.
- Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge and place it into a standard sealant applicator/gun.
- For adhesion, you should apply to the surface in a zig-zag motion. As a sealant and perimeter pointing, apply to the surface, ensuring contact to both sides and fill along the gap in one long continuous bead.
- For adhesion, you should bring the two surfaces straight after applying. With sealing and perimeter pointing, you should tool down within 5 minutes of applications.
Limitations
- Only the clear colour variation will accept paints. A preliminary test should be completed to understand the compatibility of what type of paints will work.
- The product's colour may change due to chemicals, high temperatures or UV radiation. This will not affect the bonding properties, just the visual.
- You should not use the EBT+ for the manufacturing of Aquarium systems.
- Surfaces that bleed oils or plasticisers are not suitable application areas for this product.
- This product will not adhere to surfaces such as bituminous substrates, natural rubber, EEPDM rubber or asphalt.
- When using this product as an adhesive for heavy items, you should put into place temporary structural support to aid the curing process.
