Tyvek is a single-sided acrylic tape made by Du Pont. It is made of high-density polyethylene or HDPE, using an acrylic adhesive. As a result is both airtight and waterproof. In particular Tyvek attaches to plastics with an impressively strong bond. Tyvek is also particularly resistant to chemicals.Â
Not only does this make Tyvek an excellent choice for sealing membrane laps, but it is also ideal for quick repairs for spots where waterproof paint would be difficult to apply. It can also serve extremely well when waterproofing extrusions and around pipes and windows. If you need to spruce up your ventilation system or patch it up, you can hardly do better than Tyvek.Â
