Cromapol is one of the favourite fibre-supported roof coats used by dozens of householders and roofers. This simple yet spectacular product provides an instant waterproofing to a roof and can be used across various materials that include lead, felt, tiles, flashings, gutters, and even fibre cement sheeting.
Shelf Life of Cromapol
In terms of shelf life, Cromapol lasts around 12 months in an undamaged, tightly sealed tin container. If possible, use the whole tin of Cromapol at once. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee how long the product will last once it’s been opened. For the first time using Cromapol after purchasing it, we recommend mixing paint with a brush after the tin has been opened to avoid the fibres settling at the bottom of the tin. This will allow Cromapol to have the most impact on your roof.
Cromapol On a Roof
Depending on the thickness of application and the conditions the roof is exposed the timeline on how long it will last as a waterproofer will differ. Typically, Cromapol lasts around 5 to 10 years. We only recommend using Cromapol as a temporary solution for fixing leaks in roofs; we would recommend seeking professional help from a roofer for a long-term solution such as replacing felt or roofing sheets.
How should I store Cromapol?
Cromapol should be stored indoors between 5°C ‐ 20°C, away from ignition sources, naked flames and other dangerous areas. Make sure to keep it away from pets and children as it is harmful. We’d also recommend not opening it in any carpeted or sensitive areas that may be damaged by Cromapol when opened.
Drying Time
Cromapol has a drying time of up to 1 week, depending on the temperature and thickness of the coating. The product may be soft for a further period, but this is not harmful to the waterproofing qualities of the product.
