Code 4 lead is 1.80mm in thickness and is suitable for a vast majority of roofing lead work. Code 4 is more resistant to thermal movement in comparison to Code 3 lead.
Code 4 lead comes in two lengths. 3000mm and 6000mm. The lead can be cut to size but typically the width range goes from 150mm to 1600mm.
Code 4 lead can be heavy and should be carried with caution. For example, a roll of 1600mm by 6m weighs 196kg.
Code 4 Lead Flashing
Code 4 lead flashing, available to buy online from ERoofing, is the next grade up from the thinnest flashing and can be used for slightly more robust applications. The main difference between code 3 and code 4 lead flashing is that while one’s usage is mostly limited to being used as a soaker against a chimney wall, the other is more flexible.
This is because code 4 lead flashing is 1.8mm thick, which allows for a 50% increase in the maximum length that can be laid of code 3 lead flashing as it is more resistant to thermal movement.
