Uses

The Trowel Mastic by Bond It is a versatile, fibre-reinforced, multi-purpose trowel grade material perfect for waterproofing, stopping, bedding, pointing and sealing. It's excellent at preventing water from penetrating a surface, with its ability to adhere to various surfaces, outmatching its rivals. These surfaces include;

• Asphalt
• Roofing Felt
• Corrugated Iron
• Cast Iron
• Fibre Cement
• Slates
• Lead
• Copper
• Zinc
• Concrete
• Timber

Preparation

Preparing the surface is essential to ensuring optimal adhesion with the trowel mastic. Ensure the surface is sound, stable, and free from contaminants, including dirt, dust, grease, oil, organic growth, etc. After that, make sure the surface is dry. If it's extremely weathered, use a bitumen primer to allow it to dry. Then, start the application.

Application

1. To apply the trowel mastic, use either a steel trowel or a putty knife
2. Apply it to the surface, focusing on the areas that are causing any signs of leakage
3. If the gap is about 50mm, embed some glass-fibre membrane (scrim tape) in the area, and it'll help bridge the gap
4. If you're applying it to metal, unscrew loose screws and re-screw them whilst embedding them in the trowel mastic

Limitations and Notes

• Do not apply this in areas where it's likely to contact solvents.
• This should not be used for potable drinking water tanks.
• Allow sufficient time for each coat to dry before loading more.
• If you want to paint over the mastic, use a primer, as the bitumen can bleed through.
