Uses

The Everflex 200 LMA Silicone by Everbuild is formulated with an acetoxy, an anti-fungal compound, delivering a product that provides fantastic weathering properties and resistance. The anti-fungal compound offers the most helpful resistance when applied in high-humidity areas or outside because it is impervious to black mould, mildew or the growth of bacteria. Application this product is typically applied in include;

  • Sealing around aluminium and metals
  • Sealing around showers, baths, basins and other sanitary ware
  • As an adhesive for fixing PVCu trims, cladding and panels
  • Pointing around door and window frames
  • Sealing around work worktops and laminates
  • General draughtproofing
  • Aluminium gutter sealing

Preparation

If you're applying this to areas with a large gap, you can reduce the joint depth using a backing rod, which will help save on wastage and offer a stronger bond. Before starting any application, you should prepare the surface by removing any contaminants that can hinder the adhesion; this includes dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

Application

  1. Cut the cartridge's tip, ensuring not to damage the threaded screw.
  2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, and screw it onto the top of the cartridge.
  3. Place the cartridge into a sealant applicator tool/gun and point the tip to the area you plan to seal.
  4. Using a continuous singular motion, apply even pressure to the handle, extruding the sealant to the surface in one application.
  5. After applying the sealant, you should smooth it down in 15 minutes. You smooth it using a sealant tool or a soapy, wetted wooden spoon/spatula.

Limitations

  • This product is not suitable for use in manufacturing aquariums
  • Do not use this product in conjunction with bitumen or asphalt
  • With highly porous surfaces such as new concrete, priming is suggested to optimise adhesion
  • Do not use on substrates that may bleed oils, solvents or plasticisers
  • Do not apply or in the vicinity of double-glazed units
  • When applying to PVCu, priming is recommended
  • Don't apply to soft metals such as lead or brass.
