Uses

This Everflex 225 Industrial & Glazing Silicone is excellent at binding awkward surfaces most conventional sealants won't be able to adhere to. This product can be used to bind glass to glass, glass to aluminium and metal sealing, butt and channel glazing and PVCu. A complete list of the surface this product can adhere to are;

  • Glass
  • Aluminium
  • Metal
  • PVCu
  • Timber
  • Glazing

Preparation

Prepare all surfaces before starting the application, and you can achieve this by removing all dust, dirt, flaking material, old sealant and mastic, as they will hinder the adhesion.

If the area you intend to fill has a large gap, it is advised to use a backing rod to prevent wasting too much sealant.

This product does have excellent adhesive properties when binding to non-porous surfaces. However, some surfaces may need a primer applied first.

Application

  1. Cut the tip of the cartridge without damaging the threaded screw.
  2. Screw the nozzle onto the top of the cartridge, and cut it at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the area to be filled.
  3. Apply using a standard sealant gun, and maintain an even pressure to provide an even bead for the strongest bond.
  4. Smooth down within 10 minutes of application, and use a wetted spatula, spoon or applicator tool will achieve this.

Limitations

  • Not to be used in conjunction with bitumen or asphalt.
  • Do not use on substrates that may bleed oils, solvents or plasticiser.
  • This product is not suitable for the manufacturing of an aquarium.
  • This product is not ideal for the perimeter pointing of PVCu.
  • You cannot paint over this sealant.
