Uses
KOS Fire Cement by Everbuild is an excellent product that resists high temperatures. It comes in a ready-mixed blend of thermo-setting resins and temperature-resistant inorganic fillers that cures when exposed to heat to give a seal that is resistant to heat.
Preparation
The surfaces must be prepared, remove any dust, oil, grease or other contaminants present, and wet all surfaces to give a good key.
Application
- Use the product straight from the tub; soften it with water slightly if needed.
- Use a trowel and apply well into the area, filling and covering the surface.
- After the first application, increase the heat of the cement gradually over 4 hours. A crack may start to form; if so, re-apply the cement to the area, this will create a smoke-tight seal.
Limitations
- This product is not suitable as a gas sealant
- Always moisten the surface before applying
- Always apply heat gradually
- The Black will turn into a buff/grey colour above 650°C
- Not suitable for use where the product is exposed to water
