Uses

The Tecnic Silicone 825 by Everbuild is a unique, low modulus, high viscosity non-slump silicone that provides fantastic adhesion, perfect for perimeter pointing internally and externally. Not only does its incredible adhesion achieve perfect perimeter pointing, but it is also outstanding as a general adhesive. Everbuild's scientist brewed this product with amazing adhesive properties but also superb resistance to weathering and water. Application this product excels at include;

  • Perimeter pointing internally and externally around wood, PVCu and powder-coated aluminium
  • Used for sealing and as an adhesive onto PVCu, plastic trims and components.
  • Ideal for sealing soft metals such as lead, copper and zinc
  • Weather sealing and joint sealing to pre-formed panels and curtain walling, glazing sealing and draught proofing
  • Suitable for glass-to-glass and glass to aluminium sealing. Parapet and roof weather sealing applications.
  • Perfect for expansion joint sealing

Preparation

Substrates need to be cleaned before starting the application. Removing the contaminants, such as dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc, is essential. Completing preliminary tests for large-scale projects is important to ensure compatibility with the product and surface. Due to certain surfaces being difficult to adhere to, you'll also need to;

  • Glass, aluminium, light alloys and stainless steel need to be degreased with alcohol or MEK
  • Other metals will require a light abrasion, then degreased with alcohol or MEK
  • Wood only needs to be lightly abraded, then the dust removed
  • Plastics need to be degreased using an agent recommended by the plastic manufacturer
  • Concrete and other alkaline surfaces just brush and remove the dust.
  • PPCA will need to be cleaned using a dedicated cleaner and then have an activator applied to the surface.

Application

  1. Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
  2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle to an opening which you require
  3. Place the cartridge into a standard sealant applicator/gun
  4. For adhesion, you should apply this to one surface and then bring the two together
  5. For perimeter pointing, apply one continuous bead along the whole gap
  6. Tools down using an applicator tool
  7. When doing perimeter pointing, you should smooth the sealant before the skin starts to form

Limitations

  • Do not use this in conjunction with bitumen, asphalt, neoprene and certain organic elastomers
  • Do not use this in the manufacturing of aquariums
  • This product is not suitable on surfaces that bleed oils or plasticisers
  • Not recommended as a mirror adhesive
  • Do not use it on food-grade applications.
