Uses
The Everflex 175 Universal Acrylic Sealant by Everbuild is the ultimate sealant for adhering to various surfaces, and this universal acrylic sealant is a long-lasting product that cures into a permanently flexible bond. Overall, it's perfect to use everywhere with excellent weathering resistance, and it's suitable for external and internal applications with the most common applications area including;
- External and internal sealing around timber and metal window and door frames
- PVCu Profile, trim and cladding
- Internal sealing around PVCu window and door frames
- Sealing gaps and cracks in stone, concrete and brickwork
- An adhesive for bonding polystyrene tiles and coving
- An adhesive for bonding wood block flooring and cork tiles
- Gap and crack filler before decorating
- Sealing around baths, basins, and other ceramics
Preparation
Prepare the area by cleaning the surface and removing all dirt, dust, grease, oil, etc. Any old sealant or mastic present needs to be removed, and highly porous surfaces such as new plaster should be primed with PVA bond diluted 1:4 with water. You can apply this product to a slightly damp but not wet surface.
Application
- Cut the tip of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be sealed.
- Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge and place it into a standard sealant applicator tool/gun
- Point the tip of the nozzle to the gap and apply one long bead across the whole gap
- Smooth down within 20 minutes of application using a wetted spatula, piece of wood or gloved finger.
- Any excess sealant can be removed using warm water and a sponge, and this needs to be done before it's cured
- After 1 hour of the application, the sealant will be suitable for painting over
Limitations and Notes
- Protect the sealant from water for at least 24 hours. Also, consider that curing time will be extended in damp or humid conditions.
- This product should not be used in conjunction with bitumen or asphalt.
- Do not attempt to abrade when cured.
- This product should not be used around shower trays.
- Only overpaint once the surface skin has formed. Consider the paint's flexibility, as certain vinyl matts will crack and split as the sealant moves.
