Uses
Evo-Stik Gripfill Extra Multi-purpose by Bostik is a one-part adhesive with an initial grab that is extremely strong, allowing for a robust, secure application. Suitable for application in various locations, including inside and out, this product doesn't resist different weathering or other adhesives; therefore, any external application would require the bond to be protected. Some of the substrates that this product will adhere to include the following;
- Wood
- Hardboard
- Plywood
- Ceramics
- Concrete
- Metal
- PVC
- GRP
- Plasterboard
Preparation
Before commencing the application, properly prepare the surface to ensure optimal adhesion. Remove contaminants that can hinder the adhesion, including dirt, dust, oil, grease, loose material, etc. Any paints that may come into contact with the adhesive must be removed, and metal surfaces should be degreased. New concrete and plaster should be allowed to dry thoroughly, and porous surfaces such as plaster and fibre cement boards should be primed.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, ensuring you do not damage the threaded screw.
- Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge, cutting it at a 45° angle
- Using an applicator gun, apply the adhesive in a zig-zag motion with a bead of 6mm
- On larger areas, cover the surface around the edge and across the panel at 400mm intervals
- Bring the two surfaces together with a twisting motion to achieve optimal adhesion.
Limitations
- This product is unsuitable for applications where water contact is possible.
- This product is suitable for external application; however, if water touches it, it will interfere with the bonding.
