Uses

The Anti-Bacterial Worktop Oil by Ronseal offers excellent protection whilst enhancing your wood. This unique formula delivers a clear finish to your surface, leaving a silky-smooth finish. It doesn't crack or peel; instead, by nourishing the wood with water-resistance properties. You can ensure your wood itself won't get harmed over time.

Preparation

When preparing the surface, identify if the surface is bare wood or has previously been oiled. If it has had oil formerly applied to it, ensure it's in good condition and cleaned, then you can apply directly onto it.

If it's bare wood, you should use 120 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the surface, using white spirit and a cloth to wipe down the surface, removing the dust that settled.

Application

1. Shake or stir the tin thoroughly before using it; you should see silver particles evenly distributed to know it's mixed correctly.
2. Using either a brush or cloth, apply a thin, even coat across the surface, following the grains with each stroke.
3. Leave it for at least 10 minutes, then use a lint-free cloth to wipe any excess off the surface.
4. Wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat. To achieve optimal results, you should apply 3-4 coats.
5. Every six months, when water smudging instead of beading occurs. It will let you know that you'll need to recoat the surface.

Aftercare

Clean anything with a dedicated wooden worktop cleaner to maintain the surface, as household cleaners may degrade the oil. Any scruff, scratches, or general damages that need repairing should have 120 grit sandpaper applied to the area. Then apply oil again in that section.
