Uses

The AnchorFix-1 by Sika is the ultimate anchoring adhesive, with a high-load capacity, low odour, low wastage, and ability for application with temperatures as low as -10°C, which outweighs the rival anchoring systems. This product is a 2-component polyester adhesive delivered efficiently through the same tube, making it user-friendly for novice D.I.Yers. Applications this anchoring system excels and is compatible with include;

  • Rebars / reinforcing steel
  • Bolt and special fastening systems
  • Concrete
  • Solid rock
  • Hard natural stone
  • Hollow and solid masonry

Preparation

Drill the hole into the surface which you want to fill. After drilling the hole, you will need to remove contaminants caused by the drilling to allow optimal adhesion to be achieved. You should use compressed air or a hand air pump to blow the air out. After, use a steel brush with a diameter larger than your hole and brush the surface clean. It's vital to ensure that the surface you intend to apply the product can provide enough strength.

Application

  1. Unscrew the cap from the cartridge.
  2. Cut the film at the top of the cartridge and screw the static mixer onto it.
  3. Place the cartridge into a suitable applicator tool/gun.
  4. Extrude the material from the cartridge until you achieve a consistent grey paste.
  5. Inject the adhesive directly into the hole, starting from the bottom, slowly drawing back the static mixer, avoiding entrapping any air.
  6. Insert the anchor whilst the adhesive hasn't cured, and as you insert it, rotate it. It's important to note that the adhesive should pour out slightly, informing you that you injected enough material.

Limitations and Notes

  • Any accidental spillages need to be cleaned immediately; otherwise, you'll have to remove it mechanically if it is allowed to cure.
  • You must complete the preparation correctly; otherwise, the system may fail.
