Uses
The Trade Lead Sheet Sealant by Soudal is the ultimate sealant, especially for leadworkers and roofers who require a robust, long-lasting sealant when working with and around lead. This powerful sealant is perfect for sealing lead flashing into brick, stone, and concrete, and it's also fantastic for joints on gutters, downpipes, and venting.
Preparation
This product requires the area of application to be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, organic growth and similar impurities that interfere with the bonding. If the surface is extremely porous, a primer should be applied to the surface to provide a key for the sealant. If it's not porous, you can use a surface activator to enhance the bonding.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, taking care not to damage the threaded screw
- Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening between 5mm and 30mm
- Apply to the gap, ensuring that two surfaces are bound together
- Using a spatula with a finishing solution, smooth the sealant down to a professional finish
Limitations and Notes
- Joint dimensions should be considered as follows;
- Min. width for joints: 5 mm
- Max. width for joints: 30 mm
- Min. depth for joints: 5 mm
- Three-point adhesion should be avoided otherwise, performance failure will occur
- Avoid using this product on natural stones, as staining may occur
- When smoothing/tooling the sealant, avoid the finishing solution from interfering with the bonding
- Do not use on polycarbonate, bitumen, tar, or plasticizers releasing surfaces
