Uses
Emergency Roof Repair Mastic by Thompson's immediately repairs large holes or gaps in flat roofs. It is formulated with a unique formula, compiled of bituminous, mastic-based compound with a high solid content, which aids in bridging gaps and providing a secure seal, even in heavy rain or under ponding water. The surfaces which this product is suitable for include;
- Felt
- Asphalt
- Slate
- Tiles
Preparation
If it is raining: Brush away any ponded water from the area of repair
If it is dry: Remove any dust or dirt with a stiff brush and also carry out any structural repairs if required
Application
- Use a trowel or pallet knife to work the mastic into the repair
For small cracks & holes:
- Pack the repair with a thick layer of mastic
- Ensure you cover the whole area plus 10cm around it
For larger cracks & voids:
- Use a scrim bandage to reinforce the repair
- Put a thick layer of the mastic over the repair and embed the bandage into the coating
- Complete the repair by covering the whole area, plus about 25cm around it.
